The second K-Cast for August finds me joined in conversation
with Almah LaVon Rice, the founder of Owl Dance and Moon:
Eco-Ecstatic Creativity Coaching. You can learn more about

coaching techniques she uses to help clients establish playful,

all sorts, coaches, entrepreneurs, artists; looking to take their
lives to the next grander vision of themselves.

In building her own coaching practice, Ellie is clear about
one thing: she doesn't want to use public speaking as a
lead-generating tool. Here's her perspective, in her own

"I don't mind speaking in public and can really enjoy it
but it doesn't feel like the right path for me at this time.
I want to take advantage of the technology available to us
and get clients from different areas outside of mine."

Guided Imagery in Coaching: A Fantastic Tool for Transformation!

This time around the topic is Guided Imagery - a tool I use often in coaching my clients.
My guest interviewer is Glenda Cedarleaf, a LICSW, holistic psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist with Partners in Healing of Minneapolis.

Her passion is guided imagery. She uses this practice to help clients realize creative goals--reinforcing images of empowerment, inspiration and transformation. Happy New Year Magnificent Coaches

I hope that you had a wonderful beginning of your year. I have set some New Year's Intentions (I don't do resolutions anymore), and one of them has to do with the theme of this month's K-cast: Self-Care.

In fact, I am called the Queen of Self-Care by many of my friends.

A few months ago, I was invited by A2A Coaching, to be the guest speaker on their coaching club call. During the call, I revealed how self care is a key ingredient to getting more done in less time.

I have seen the power of the continual process of mastering self-care in my own life, and am excited to share the ideas in this audio with you.

"I have a part of me I call the 'steam roller' - that part that has been taught to take action even if I'm unsure, it doesn't feel right, or just taking action for the sake of taking action because I have been told I should, etc, etc.

"I had a recent experience and was talking to a coaching colleague about it and she reflected that she has the same issue. I believe this is something that will resonate with many people."

Researching Your Niche Market

looked at niches in general and how to decide on, and refine your niche.

This week takes the focus on niches even further.

Exploring Niches

The Power of Silence in Coaching

Allowing Your Past Experiences to Shape Your Coaching Practice

Bringing the total you into your coaching practice, the sum of your experience and inner wisdom, is a most courageous thing to do. And it's very important in building a highly-successful practice. After all, it's the model you wish your clients to see: that they too can value where they've been, and use it all as stepping stones to where they want to go.

This month's K-Cast is a wonderful dialogue around this issue. My guest is Stephanie Griffin, whose Web site http://www.mytransformationguide.com/, where she invites visitors to consider the joys of, "Enlightened Health, Enlightened Body: Guiding you on your personal path to weight loss, health, and happiness."

The key word here is personal. Each of us, both coach and client, must bring into the relationship their uniquely personal perspective. To honor your experiences and find the inner wisdom that you've developed from them: that's such a powerful place from which to build a successful life and a highly-successful coaching practice!

I'm often asked exactly how my past propelled me forward as a coach, and rather than go into the details here, I'm requesting that you listen in to this month's K-Cast to learn of my personal and career-related experiences.

Here are some of the questions we address in our dialogue:

What kinds of skills are beneficial in starting your practice?
How do you find the value in the experiences we've had?
What would you suggest for new coaches in the finding/receiving of help in the areas they don't want to do?

Everyone has their own inner guidance. The first important skill is the ability to connect with that inner guidance and discern what actions are going to be the right ones in building your practice.

As coaches, we are in the business of authenticity and transformation. If we are not authentic, if we're not aligned with our inner guidance, we won't even be able to be seen by our ideal prospective clients.

Understanding, Acceptance, Allowing… Power Tools in Coaching

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Mariana Florea, a Life, Work, Balance Coach who lives in Belgium. Here Web site address is: http://www.yesyoucan.be

(One of the many remarkable things about our community that I cherish is our geographical scope – we have coaches around the world, connecting with one another through the power of the internet and spirit! Just think of the synergy.)

Our conversation revolved around the nature of criticism, and whether or not it has any place in the coach-client relationship. Mariana offered the following quotation from Dale Carnegie’s book, How to Enjoy Your Life and Your Job:

“Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain but it takes character and self control to be understanding and forgiving.” ~Dale Carnegie

Even though I have heard some potential clients say, “Just tell me the whole truth. I want and need constructive criticism to move forward. I need to know what is wrong so I can fix it,” criticism has no place in the coaching process. Coaching is not about fixing, it is about bringing forward the client’s best answers to bear on their questions.

When we criticize, we don’t help…we paralyze the situation, there’s no movement forward. According to one of my magnificent mentors, Peter Reding, constructive criticism is an oxymoron. Criticism is never constructive, never empowering. Energetically, criticism will “shut down” a person. And then, their best answers become difficult to find.

Understanding, acceptance, allowing… all of these are more powerful!

As coaches we know the power in understanding…when a client comes to a coaching session and tells me that they didn’t do what they were going to do, I CELEBRATE! The fact that they came to the session, and were so open to say they didn’t do the work - that’s a real act of courage. They are looking for an invitation to move forward.

As you show your clients that understanding and acceptance are more empowering, you are a powerful force for change, both within them, and on a larger scale, within society. It ripples out, affecting the consciousness of the entire world.

Success with Ease and Joy - Tools and Resources for Professional Coaches

The Subtle Layers of Communication

In this week's K-cast, I am joined by Sally Taylor, a personal coach, who helps professional women to determine their life purpose and learn how that purpose is being played out in the details of where they have been, where they are and where they are going. She uses an ancient Chinese medicine system of Directionology in the work she does with her clients. (For those of you interested in learning more, Sally can be reached at sally.taylor@att.net.)

Here are the questions she brings to the K-Cast "table." I have used them almost verbatim, as Sally asked them, as she does such a fine job of setting things up for you:

As living beings we are both receivers and transmitters of thoughts, ideas. The energy that is present when these thoughts/ideas are received or transmitted differentiates what we call them: Information, knowledge and wisdom. Each has different energy and each describes a different dynamic. Would you like to talk about how you choose what is needed, information, knowledge or wisdom? And when to offer it?

I know that when I've worked with you I experience a "dance" with the different levels we are communicating on. Sometimes you're offering information - look on the Internet, have you read this book. Sometimes you're offering the knowledge of your experience, and sometimes some profound wisdom just pops into the conversation. I find this interesting because this "dance" that's taking place appears to me to come from and a dynamic mix of what you receive through deep cognitive listening and what you receive through deep intuitive listening to Spirit or the Universe. - Sally and I talk about the experience of this "dance".

Sally's next questions, in her own words:

It seems to me that there is often some larger communication taking place in our coaching sessions. There is a unifying spiritual dynamic, and ultimately there is a spiritual message that needs to be communicated. Do you also have a sense of this? What is your experience of that dimension of your work?

My next question or subject is about the leap from being a creator to being a generator. As a client, for example, I have used the information, knowledge and wisdom I've received from you and applied it to creating my business. Really, I've worked with you on this from the beginning when all I knew was that I wanted to create a business. I did not know how to even think about that or what it might be.

And what came to my attention while I was meditating the other day is that I've moved beyond being a creator of a business to being a generator of business. Create means originate or father. Generate means to bring into existence. For me there is a feeling difference. For example, we don't tell someone to go out and create new clients. Instead, we generate new clients. Until recently, I felt myself to be the creator of a business.

And now that I have solidly brought that business into existence, it expands, and because of the nature of what I do, it helps others bring their dreams into existence - it is generative. And it is generating not only new clients, but new products as well as revenue. What I felt was a subtle shift in myself, in the way I see myself and see my business when this idea came into my experience. So I was wondering if you had your own unique feelings or experiences with this?

You probably already know that speaking engagements are a very easy
way to get in front of your choice clients and promote coaching,
your services and products.

In fact, I am giving a presentation on this at the Resource
Realizations Conference this weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona. As I
have gone about preparing for this presentation, I was inspired to
remind you of the value of speaking engagements to your practice
development.

I wanted to find out just how lucrative some of my speaking
engagements have been, so I looked at one presentation that I had
done two years ago at Canyon Ranch here in Tucson. And at that
time, I had no products to promote, only my coaching services. On
top of that, we were not allowed to 'market' our services as a

guest lecturer.

Well, that particular night, I did a presentation on Empowering
Communication. In fact, it is the same presentation that is part
of the Speeches To Go information product coming out next month.
After I gave the presentation, I had two people approach me and ask
me about coaching services. One was a man in his 30's who was very
successful in IT sales and was ready to settle down. He wanted to
know if I could coach him on finding a relationship that would lead
to marriage. The other person was a former doctor's wife who was
looking for a new career.

I am happy to say that both of these individuals became clients.
The IT salesperson got married last month and the woman is planning
on going back to school soon to pursue her new career.

I am also happy to say that when I looked back at my accounts, that
one presentation generated over $10,000 in coaching fees. And that
was without any products and without the ability to market.

Because I have been thinking about this topic, I have asked Kim to
upload an audio from the Be Inspiring Now teleseminar that I held
last year to our audio blog. Some of you may have even attended
that one. I'd like you to have a listen and refresh your knowledge.
And if you did not hear it the first time, I think you will really enjoy
the information.

This week’s K-Cast is very deep – and I want to thank Nichole Santoro for bringing these questions to the forefront. Her self-penned byline is this: "Go Mommy! Nichole Santoro is a Life Coach & Career Coach who inspires working moms to design rewarding family-friendly careers and work-life balance." Her Web site is: www.careersalon.com.

The questions for this week are:

You've recommended reading of Ask & It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The equation that stood out for me from that book is: DESIRE + BELIEF + STRONG EMOTION = MANIFESTATION. If you are at liberty to share, what client experience comes to mind when you think of the greatest vibrational shift - or shift in that client's beliefs – that facilitated what others might have perceived as an "unlikely" occurrence or at best, good ol' fashioned luck/coincidence.
What kinds of exercises have seemed to work really well for your clients to strengthen their beliefs? For examples, writing daily affirmations, designing a collage board with pictures of desired states, simply getting into action, etc?
One thing that troubles me about the law of attraction is this. As coaches, we tend to be very giving, supporting philanthropic causes locally and abroad. Say for example, the myriads of breast cancer survivor walks. While this appears to be a very noble cause (like many non-profits) - i.e. in this case raising money for research - does the principle of law of attraction suggest that by our mere focus on these walks, we're perpetuating the very disease we're trying to eradicate? What might be an alternative solution to reach that desired goal?
The book Law of Attraction written by the same authors suggests that the purpose of ACTION is not to get from where we are to where we want to be, but rather, the PURPOSE of action is to enjoy the manifestation of our desires, to dance in the moment. When we use action as a "how" to get to our goals, we're being extremely inefficient.
SO! Let's say that I want to coach Karen Cappello, life coach extraordinaire. Taking this principle literally, I imagine and believe that you'll want to be coached by me...and voila! you ask me for a coaching session! My ACTION wasn't my calling you or sending you a brochure for example, but rather raising my vibration high enough to match my desires. Indeed, my ACTION is ENJOYING the process of coaching you, which was my goal.
My question is...TRUE or FALSE? In coaching we talk about creating goals & action steps, so I'm curious about the possibilities here.
As a native Chicagoan, what kind of pizza most attracts you, and how is this reflected in your personal coaching style? :D

Seeing the client as they truly are: which is absolutely magnificent! You see the client in their true magnificence. You see them in their very best, that they can do anything, and that they really do have all the answers.

Encouraging the client: through this often-messy process: Self-development can get messy (just think of the mud! Could that be why people don’t choose to dig deeper for the buried treasure within them – because of the messiness?

A Strong Capacity to Love: true appreciation of the client’s magnificence.

Exquisite Selfishness: Magnificent coaches support the client in two ways:
1. Shining examples of self-care in action
2. Elicit the self-care strategies of their clients, and help them implement them.

Choosing to support yourself as coach: In giving yourself the self-development, self-care, and other nurturing activities – you allow more support, energetically, to come into your life.

Exquisite coach-ability: The magnificent coach is open to learning, open to being coached; open to self-introspection and self-growth.
